President of Pakistan

Arif-Alvi

Mr. Arif Alvi

In 1997-98, he was appointed Advisor to the Chief Minister of Sindh. In 1999, he was elected as the President of the Karachi Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI), the largest business chamber of the country. In June 1999, he was appointed as Governor of Sindh, but his term was cut short on October 12, 1999 when the PML (N) government was removed. He was a political prisoner when he raised his voice against the then dictatorial regime.

Mr. Mamnoon Hussain was elected the 12th President of Pakistan as the official nominee of the PML (N) in a landslide electoral victory, and took the oath of office on September 09, 2013. He has resigned from the PML (N) as he believes that the President is a symbol of the Federation, and represents the unity of the Republic, and, therefore, should be apolitical. Mr. Mamnoon Hussain is known as a man of impeccable integrity and courage against all political odds. He is extremely interested to develop the education sector in Pakistan. He is a cricket fan.

He married in August 1970 and has three sons, all married, and six grandchildren. He has two brothers and one sister.
